About Me

I grew up on the East Coast in a rural community on Cape Breton Island and graduated from St. Francis Xaxier University in 1993 with a BA in Political Science. I have called the West Coast my home since 1995 and I graduated from the University of Victoria in 2007 with a Master of Education in Counselling Psychology. My experiences with grief, loss, anxiety, depression, ADHD, and Multiple Sclerosis inform my practice and my compassion towards others. I chose to pursue therapy as a career because of my inherent desire to help others overcome life's challenges and because I know first hand that counselling can and does work; I am living proof!

I am a proud mother to a beautiful, strong, independent adult daughter. I spend my spare time with friends, walking, sailing with my partner, creating with my many hobbies, and doing volunteer work for Umbrella Society (I sit on the Board of Directors and facilitate addiction groups as well as a codependency group which I developed). I am an animal lover and when not working, spend most of my time with an incredible dog named Nootka.
